'Half-Life 3' game release date: 'Unannounced' title is a short film

"Half-Life" fans have been eagerly waiting for any news about the development of the sci-fi first-person shooter series. But since Valve and Sierra Entertainment are still mum about the game, an avid fan came up with a short film to show how much they want to have a new "Half-Life 3" game.

The short film called "Half-Life 3: Unannounced," released and produced by New Zealand's Fence Post Productions, shows "Half Life's" protagonist Gordon Freeman who is older and has gained a lot of weight over the past decade when the last installment of the "Half Life" series was released.

Freeman appears to be bored in the short film, having nothing to do since there are no adventures in sight for the former Black Mesa Research Facility employee. He is seen drinking all day and wasting most of his precious time watching TV and lazily toying with his Gravity Gun to keep himself amused.

It has been almost eight years since Gordon last found himself in the middle of the action, when he and Alyx Vance faced several combats where the former City 17 had once stood.

Now that Freeman's only pastime in the video involves throwing around empty beer cans, the weariness in his appearance is very evident. He has developed a huge beer belly over time. LazyGamer even pointed out that Gordon only needs to grow a white beard and he will almost resemble the look of Gabe Newell, the co-creator of the "Half-Life" series.

The last installment in the hit "Half-Life" games was "Half-Life 2: Episode Two," which came out in 2007. There were initial reports claiming that Valve will also release a third episode in that installment, but nothing has come out so far.

Until now, fans are still eager to see another "Half-Life" game to be able to enjoy a new chapter in the series.
