'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' spoilers: New clues on Star-Lord's father emerge; Comic-Con appearance teased

Star-Lord's father will be revealed in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." But who could it be? Marvel Studios

A family reunion is in order in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." The identity of Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) father may have just been revealed in a new theory bouncing around the web.

A Reddit user compiled pieces of evidence that point to Marvel character Starhawk as the father of Peter Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

In one of director James Gunn's update for "What We Shot Wednesdays," the filmmaker posted a sketch of what appears to be someone's face on fire, captioning it "her face wrapped in flame."

It is believed that it the face belongs to Nikki, who happens to be one of the original members of the Guardians and whose superhuman ability allows her to withstand heat and ultraviolet radiation.

Actress Sharon Stone is expected to play the role in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and she even mentioned that fire will be her character's element.

If Nikki will be included in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel, it is speculated that Charlie-27, another Guardians member, will be included as well.

That character is expected to be the one Sylvester Stallone will play. After all, they have the same build and Movieweb believes that he fits the disruption for the character.

This is where Peter Quill's dad enters the picture, assuming Kurt Russell will play the role of Starhawk and that actress Elizabeth Debicki will play "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" antagonist Ayesha as suggested by previous rumors.

"It seems quite plausible that Kurt Russell would play Stakar, AKA Starhawk, another [original Guardian member]. Why? He's the son of Kismet/Ayesha, who is believed to be the main villain of Vol. 2, played by Elizabeth Debicki. If Starhawk is [Peter's] dad and Kismet is his grandma, it would make Vol. 2 a real family affair for Peter Quill."

Whether or not this is accurate is still to be seen, but it is certainly something the "Guardians of the Galaxy" follow-up could pull off.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits the theaters on May 5, 2017. The production should be complete soon, in time for a possible appearance of Gunn at the Comic-Con.
