Despite the delay in the release of "Grand Theft Auto 5," fans are still eagerly awaiting for any information that would give light to the future of the popular open-world action game franchise from Rockstar Games. Earlier, the game developer confirmed that they already have several "ideas" for the highly requested "GTA 6."

Back in 2013, Rockstar Games president Leslie Benzies talked about the possibility of "GTA 6."

"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," Benzies stated in an interview with Develop. "We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas."

At the time of the interview, the company was focusing on "GTA V" and "GTA Online."

Benzies shared how it was like developing "GTA V," saying, "It comes from the idea first. Where is it going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the missions in."

Thus, there have been lots of speculations on the location for the next "GTA" installment. A recent one posted by website Movoto surmises that the setting of "GTA 6" will not be in big cities like New York or Los Angeles. Instead, the game developer may opt to focus the game's events in a minor city like Portland, Oregon.

According to the speculation, Portland is an ideal place to launch a car stealing spree. It also allegedly has a significant number of areas to find girls, and it is a better option compared to other cities, especially since it has the same number of gun stores as the ones found in Los Santos.

"GTA 6" is also expected to have a multiplayer mode after the success of the recently released "Grand Theft Auto Online." On the other hand, other speculations claim the sixth installment of the franchise will finally have a female protagonist, which is a fresh take for the video game series since "GTA" became highly controversial because of how they portray women in the games.

"GTA 6," according to predictions and guesses, might be released in 2017, which could mean that it will come out on next-generation consoles.
