The premiere episode of "Grimm" season 6 has yet to air, but fans of the supernatural police procedural series are already clamoring to extend the life of the show for another season after NBC announced its cancellation.

Deadline first announced the network's plans to end the series in late August, saying that the final chapter in the lives of Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) and his crew will be aired on Friday, January 6, 2017. Yet, the series will return an hour earlier compared to the past seasons since the network will release the episodes at 8 p.m.

Aside from the cancellation and schedule change, fans of the show seemed to be unhappy with the news that the sixth season of "Grimm" was only going to have 13 episodes instead of the usual 22. This significantly shortens the existence of the series on the air.

However, fans of the series will not give up easily to let the network know how disappointed they were with the "Grimm" cancellation news. According to reports, several online petitions were launch to demand NBC to extend the series to at least another season.

In the petition posted on The Petition Site, only 600 signatures are needed before they reach their goal of 10,000 signatures to demand the network to reconsider canceling the series. They also want other networks like TNT to pick up the show to prolong its life.

According to the appeal in the petition, "We, the fans from all over the globe, are not ready to say goodbye. We are not ready to give up on the cast who have shared over five years of their lives with us."

Another petition on Change.org only needs less than a hundred signatures to reach its goal of 1000 supporters so that they can start sending letters to TNT to ask them to think about acquiring the show from NBC after its cancellation.

Results of the ongoing petition for the extension of "Grimm" season 6 are expected to be announced soon.
