With all the drama and the impending danger facing the still unborn child of April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), the lives of the medical practitioners at Seattle Grace Hospital are clouded with misery. Nonetheless, there is still a little ray of sunshine for the love story between Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington). There are spoilers saying that Alex and Jo will finally try to take their relationship to the next level when the show returns for its midseason premiere.

Actress Camilla Luddington talked about her character's future with Alex in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. She said the both Jo and Alex are a mess when they are together, but so are all the other relationships in the show.

She said, "They work well together and I think they're both really growing in their relationship. Even Jo being open and having this conversation where she's like, 'You know what? I am jealous and this sucks; I don't feel like I'm No. 1.' That's tough for her to have."

The actress also said that Alex is stepping up and being more matured in their relationship by being a supportive boyfriend.

Justin Chambers, the actor who portrays the role of Jo's boyfriend Alex, also shared his sentiments.

"He really likes her a lot. Maybe we'll get to see them in more domesticated situations and the typical day-to-day relationship stuff. I think they complement each other, I really do," Chambers said.

But if Jo and Alex are moving forward with their love story, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) are going in a different direction. Back in the midseason finale, Derek talked about moving to Washington, DC even without Meredith.

"I don't want to fight but I don't want to compromise myself, Meredith," Derek said.

Would Derek's impending move to DC affect their upcoming wedding? This will be revealed when "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 returns for its midseason premiere on Jan. 29.
