'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 winter premiere spoilers: Denzel Washington directs episode

The agony of waiting for the next fresh episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 has already started, which means that fans have to endure several weeks to know what's next for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and the rest of the medical staff of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

But based on the behind-the-scenes teasers for episode 9 titled "The Sound of Silence," the installment in really on to look forward to.

The cast and crew of the long-running medical drama series are generous enough to share set photos from the episode, which was directed by award-winning actor-director Denzel Washington. It was written by Stacy McKee, the series executive producer.

Based on the posts shared on social media, the episode was shot from Oct. 20 up to Nov. 2. It could only mean that big events will happen in the episode and required a longer period of production.

While there is no official word yet regarding the plot of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 winter premiere, fans of the show are hoping that it would shed light on Owen's (Kevin McKidd) secret sister,, who was revealed during the midseason finale.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McKidd talked about Owen's possible reason why his sister never came up after all this time. The actor believes that there must be something serious that happened in the past which made Owen decide why he never talked about his sister.

However, McKidd shared that Owen and his sister "were very close," which is why talking about it was hard for him.

Fans are also expecting to learn more about the state of Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April's (Sarah Drew) relationship after trying to mend it during the midseason finale, as well as Amelia's (Caterina Scorsone) next move after her big fight with Meredith.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 winter premiere will air on Feb. 11, 2016.
