While Rockstar Games has yet to confirm the development of the next "Grand Theft Auto" installment, the rumors are rife that the studio will drop the game in the next few years. It is already expected that the studio will take some time in creating "Grand Theft Auto VI," knowing how huge the previous "GTA" sequels are. According to the latest reports, the upcoming title might just be the biggest one of the franchise yet, as it will not only feature one city, but multiple locations on a single narrative.

According to the latest insider scoop from The Know, Rockstar is currently working on "Grand Theft Auto VI," but it may still take another three to four years for the game to be finished. At this point of the game's development, "GTA VI" is being referred to as "Project Americas." The secret name for "Grand Theft Auto VI" likely has something to do with the game's content, as it is rumored to include multiple cities in the United States of America.

Among the possible locations to be included in "Grand Theft Auto VI" is Vice City. The fictional city based on Miami has already been featured in a "GTA" spin-off title. Although, the public is advised to take this information with a grain of salt, as it is possible that Vice City is being mentioned only to get the fans' attention, knowing that "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" was such a huge hit.

Aside from the US-based locations, "Grand Theft Auto VI" is also rumored to let the players venture out of the country and travel to a distant land, particularly the South American continent. The specific locations in South America to be used in "Grand Theft Auto VI" are not specified, although it is speculated that these places could serve as a venue for excursion missions, similar to North Yankton in "Grand Theft Auto V."

It is expected that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will not arrive anytime soon, considering that the previous installments took several years to launch after their predecessors. The sixth entry is likely to arrive sometime in 2021 or 2022, if the three to four-year estimate from The Know turns out to be correct.

Meanwhile, Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz predicts that Rockstar will have a hard time beating its own record by the time of the "Grand Theft Auto VI" launch. Presently, the studio's highest selling game title is "Grand Theft Auto V," with more than 90 million copies sold up to this date. The upcoming sequel could have a hard time hitting the same number, moreso exceeding it. Nevertheless, the potential of "GTA VI" to do well upon its release cannot be denied.
