Details about the plot of "Gotham" season 3 have been finally unveiled when the cast and executive producer John Stephens appeared at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con.
During the roundtable discussion, the cast revealed that the subtitle for the third season of "Gotham" will be called "Heroes Will Fall." This means that heroes of the city might be in danger. But who between Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) will have a big hurdle to overcomewhen the series returns this fall?
McKenzie also revealed to the attendees of the roundtable that the upcoming season will feature a significant time jump.
"We're six months in the future and the monsters that have been unleashed...are turning the city into utter, total anarchy," he said during the 2016 SDCC panel, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor also said that his character will no longer be with the Gotham City Police Department, and he will be disappointed with himself because of this. The city will also be cloaked in darkness, as the monsters were unleashed to roam freely in the city. This will turn Gordon into a bounty hunter and save the city from the lawless, but at a price.
The time jump will also have a huge effect on Jim and Leslie's (Morena Baccarin) relationship. According to the actress, Leslie went through a lot of hardships during those times.
"I think she was hoping Jim would come find her and rescue her and all that good stuff. But the losing of their baby and the way he went to jail and everything — she's had to piece herself together," she said. McKenzie also revealed that it may still take a while before the former couple could find themselves back into each other's hand.
Also, "Gotham" season 3 will feature that visible change in the relationship of Selena (Camren Bicondova) and Poison Ivy, who will significantly age after the time jump after Maggie Geha was cast to play the role of the older Ivy Pepper.
"The roles will change, from Ivy's perspective – it's not that Selina looked down on Ivy, but Selina's older than her; she feels this older sister connection to Ivy. So when the new Ivy arrives, she's older than Selina, and I don't think it's going to go well for Selina," Bicondova said.
"Gotham" season 3 will premiere on FOX on Monday, Sept. 19.
