More chilling events will happen when "Gotham" season 2 returns after the midseason finale, since Mr. Freeze will soon spread fear in town.

The first glimpse of cryogenics engineer Victor Fries was seen in the fall finale of "Gotham" season 2. But fans will learn more about him and his alter-ego Mr. Freeze when the series returns for its winter premiere.

Mr. Freeze is known as Batman's only nemesis who knows how to love somebody. He had a wife named Nora (Kristen Hager), but her fatal illness forced him to put her in a cryostasis in order to prolong her life. However, an accident that happened in his lab covered his body with chemicals resulting in a permanently lowered body temperature. He must use a special suit in order to live.

Nathan Darrow, the actor who portrays the role of Mr. Freeze in the FOX TV adaptation of the DC Comics superhero, recently talked to USA Today about how his character will change the dynamics on the show.

According to Darrow, Victor was really focused on keeping his wife alive. "In some of the research I did on the character as he has evolved in the comic book, he has a more tenuous connection with humanity and his own humanity, and she's it," the actor said. "He is applying all his talents and skills and energies to maintaining that."

However, the actor chose not to talk about the freeze gun that Mr. Freeze will use as a weapon. "I will tell you we're going to see Mr. Freeze do some things we have never seen him do," Darrow shared.

Aside from the brief introduction to Mr. Freeze in the midseason finale, FOX TV also dropped a 20-second trailer to tease the release of the new villain when "Gotham" returns for its winter premiere on February 29, 2016.
