GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition GoPRO

GoPro will be releasing the highly anticipated GoPro HERO4 Black Edition on Oct. 5, and it is already gaining interest from the fans of the power-packed personal action camera days before it reaches the store shelves.

But before grabbing the latest product from the San Mateo-based firm, users would like to know how it fares against its award-winning predecessor, the GoPRO HERO3+ Black Edition.

Here is a comparison between the old and the new products from one of the best action camera brands in the market today.

Video Capacity

The latest product from GoPRO can shoot powerful 4K videos with ultra-wide viewing angles at 24, 30, and 35 frames per second. This is a far cry from the earlier HERO3+ Black Edition, which can only shoot 4K videos at 15 frames per second.

The HERO4 Black Edition also features different resolution options that ranges from 2.7K at 50 frames per second, 1440p at 80 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second, 960p at 120 frames per second, and 720p at 120 frames per second.

Meanwhile, the HERO3+ Black Edition offers different resolutions, from 2.7K at 30 frames per second, 1440p at 48 frames per second, 1080p at 60 frames per second, 960p at 100 frames per second, and 720p at 120 frames per second.

Photo Capacity

There are no significant differences between the image capturing features of both GoPRO HERO products. These 12-megapixel cameras can capture photos at 30 frames per seconds while in the burst mode, and has an unchanging f/2.8 aperture setting.

The cameras also have a 0.5 to 60 second time-lapse intervals as well as a 10 to 30 second night lapse exposure times with 60 minute intervals.

Screen

The new GoPRO HERO4 Black Edition comes with a new screen located at the back that can be used to customize the settings of the device. It can also help in framing the shots as well as viewing the images and videos even without having to connect it to other devices like laptops or tablets.

Connectivity

The HERO3+ can be connected online with the help of WiFi, while the new HERO4 can be connected using either Bluetooth or WiFi connections.

Pricing

The more powerful and upgraded GoPRO HERO4 Black Edition will be sold at $499.99. It also has a Silver edition that will sell for $399.99. On the other hand, the HERO3+ ranges from $299.00 up.
