The second season of "Girl Meets World" is set to wrap up soon, and fans are already waiting to see what will be in store for Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews' (Danielle Fishel) daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) in the upcoming episodes for season 3.

At the end of season 2, Riley and her friends will finally say goodbye to middle school. This means that the third season of the "Boy Meets World" spin-off series will feature Riley's new adventures in high school.

During the post finale interview with The Wrap, series creator Michael Jacobs talks about the difference between the situations during the time of "Boy Meets World" and "Girl Meets World," as well as the ongoing love triangle plot involving Riley, her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter), and their other friend Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer).

According to Jacobs, there are lots of differences between the two series, especially because of the emergence of social media. Despite the new challenges, they managed to do what they want since the first season of the spin-off, which is to introduce a coming-of-age comedy intended for the current generation.

"We think the third season, which we are working on right now, will show the growth and the feelings that kids have to come in contact with in order to evolve in a world where everybody, unfortunately, I think, has to grow up very fast," the series creator said.

But when asked about the ongoing complicated relationship between Riley, Maya, and Lucas, Jacobs said that season 3 will answer "a much bigger and broader conceptual question" regarding the love triangle between the three.

Several speculations claim that "Girl Meets World" season 3 will reveal that Riley is lesbian since Blanchard opened up about her sexual orientation early this year via her Twitter account.

Jacobs seem to hint about a possible confession from a character, saying, "This series was always about this magnificent friendship between Riley and Maya, and if you look at the differences in the girls you will understand what's going on now."

"Girl Meets World" season 3 is currently in production and is expected to premiere on Disney Channel later in 2016.
