'Girl Meets World' season 3 spoilers: Uncle Shawn to get down on one knee for Maya's mom

Will Katy say yes to Shawn's proposal? Disney Channel

Fan-favorite character Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) from "Boy Meets World" returns in the third season of the spin-off series "Girl Meets World" for a very important mission.

In episode 6, titled "Girl Meets Upstate," Shawn will be visited by his best friend Cory Matthew's daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) for help. But his reunion with Cory will lead to a much-awaited event when he faces Maya's mother, Katy (Cheryl Texiera).

E! News revealed that the episode will show how Shawn will finally decide about his feelings for Katy and her daughter in spite of their on-again off-again relationship. He knows that his feelings for Katy are real, which is why he will ask Cory to help him propose.

But aside from the very romantic proposal, the episode will also deal with Maya's continuous struggle to find her true artistic voice. This is why she and Riley will approach Shawn to help her find her true self.

Based on the promo trailer for the upcoming episode, Shawn will doubt at first if he is the right person to ask for help. But Cory will remind him of his past accomplishments, including running away to find himself for about 76 times. This reassured Shawn that he is the best person to help Maya deal with her problems at the moment.

While Maya might have a chance to find her true self with the help of Uncle Shawn, the synopsis for the episode reveals that she and Riley will make a big mistake when they go on their journey upstate.

The synopsis for the episode reads:

"Riley and Maya head upstate to help Maya find her artistic voice; they don't tell Cory and Topanga where they've gone."

The sixth episode of "Girl Meets World" season 3 is scheduled to air on Friday, July 8, on Disney Channel.
