Gaming news: 'Super Mario Bros.' English encyclopedia to Be released in October

Fans of the well-loved video game "Super Mario Bros." will have something else to add to the list of game collectibles, as game developer Nintendo is set to release an English version of the "Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia" on Oct. 23. This follows the original Japanese version, which was written in Nihonggo and released in 2015.

Gamer's guide Kotaku first announced the news that the 256-page encyclopedia will be released by Dark Horse Comics. This will cover the three-decade history of the franchise, which stars the moustached, overall-clad and animated brothers Mario and Luigi. The franchise started with 1985's "Super Mario Bros." to the release made in 2013, "Super Mario 3D World." It does not, however, include the latest installment titled "Super Mario Odyssey."

According to Mike Richardson, Dark Horse Comics president and founder, they are proud to continue their successful partnership with Nintendo. He adds, "Together, we've produced beautiful art books to honor the ground-breaking games Nintendo's created. We're proud to give fans another way to appreciate the material."

The "Super Mario Bros." official guide is already available for pre-order on Amazon and, according to the listing for the limited edition encyclopedia, it is jam-packed with content from all 17 games from the Super Mario franchise. In addition, the listing description also says that "this tome also contains an interview with producer Takashi Tezuka, tips to help you find every coin, star, sun, and mushroom--even explanations of glitches!"

It will come with an embossed slipcase that is designed to look like the original "Super Mario Question Mark Block." Buyers will randomly receive a cover among four available designs such as the "Super Mushroom," "Fire Flower," "Super Star," or "1-Up Mushroom." Each will also be accentuated with holofoil and a collectible ribbon bookmark printed with the game's original beanstalk design.

For Nintendo fans and those who remain nostalgic about "Super Mario Bros.," the encyclopedia is set to be sold for $23.99 on Amazon.
