"Game of Thrones" returns for its seventh season this summer, and singer Ed Sheeran recently revealed new details about his cameo role in the epic HBO series.
During an SXSW panel last month, it was confirmed that Sheeran will have a cameo appearance in "Game of Thrones" season 7. The series creators did not give away details about his role at the time. However, they did say that they have been trying to get him on the show for a long time as a treat for cast member Maisie Williams, who is a big fan of the British singer.
The 26-year-old has spoken to Comic Book and revealed a few details about his mysterious character. "I do know which role I am going to play," the singer said. He went on to explain that his character won't suffer the same fate some major characters had on the show.
"I don't die in it, I don't die. I'm only in it for like five minutes... I'd probably prefer to have sex than die in the show. I'm sure a lot of people are into that but I'm not," Sheeran shared.
In other casting-related news, Mark Gatiss confirmed at the BFI & Radio Times Festival in London that he will be making multiple appearances in the upcoming season, according to Express. The "Sherlock" actor/producer, who plays Tycho Nestoris, aka the Iron Banker of Braavos, has already filmed two episodes for the show.
He also mentioned that he has two more episodes to shoot but when asked for plot details, the actor remained coy and simply said: "I honestly don't know the ins and outs. ... I've done four episodes now and there's two more they think. It's a huge saga. ... The last scene I'm in with — I probably can't say because it would be a spoiler, wouldn't it?"
Going by Gatiss' comments, many speculate that Gatiss' character will make it through the program's final season alive. Gatiss previously appeared in episodes "The Laws of Gods and Men (2014)" and "The Dance of Dragons (2015)."
The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" will premiere on Sunday, July 16, at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
