'Game of Thrones' season 6 premiere: Latest promo released

As a reminder of the imminent premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 6, HBO has released a new promo that treats fans to a meaty overview of the upcoming season, which is deemed the bloodiest and most epic yet.

There's a load of good stuff to see in the promo, but the overarching theme of the HBO juggernaut's much-awaited season is that death lurks and the reaper is all around, especially in the land of Westeros.

The "Game of Thrones" season 6 promo features vast armies charging at each other and Drogon in all his glory flying over legions of fighters, grand spectacles that promise dramatic and action-packed new episodes.

There is also a glimpse of the Tower of Joy, insanely cool Targaryen armor, Bran Stark's visions, Sansa on the run and the Night's King looking more vicious than ever in the "Game of Thrones" season 6 trailer.

In between these fast-paced scenes, HBO teases that "the wait is over" for "Game of Thrones" season 6, which is officially premiering on April 24, which is just days away.

"Game of Thrones" season 6 will finally provide the answer to the most raised question in the past months: Is Jon Snow dead or alive?

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo hears that question all the time, and is amazed by the passion of "Game of Thrones" fans and the investment they have in the character.

"They both want me to answer and are afraid of me answering. So I've chosen just to keep walking and say: 'Watch this season,'" Lombardo told Variety.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that HBO is thinking of shortening the final seasons of "Game of Thrones," seven for season 7 and six for season 8.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but author George R.R. Martin, the man behind the books that inspired the show, assures that there are a lot of stories that can do as spinoffs.

"There is certainly no lack of material," Martin told Entertainment Weekly. Likening his tales to his favorite childhood series "The Naked City," the best-selling novelist had this to say.

"There are eight million stories in Westeros as well ... and even more in Essos and the lands beyond. A whole world full of stories, waiting to be told... if indeed HBO is interested."

"Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres April 24.
