Lots of hearts are still breaking after one of the most loved characters in HBO's "Game of Thrones" appeared to have been killed at the end of season 5. But how would this affect the show's next season?
In "Game of Thrones" season 5, Jon Snow, the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, insisted that the brothers head toward the Wildlings' turf to ask them to join the Watch to fight against the creepy White Walkers. Most of the brothers opposed this idea, even his best friends Edd (Ben Crompton) and Olly (Brenock O'Connor).
After Jon returned to the Wall from Hardhome, his popularity within his brotherhood had completely diminished. While he was busy reading messages in his room, his steward Olly arrived to tell him that the Wildlings know where Jon's uncle is. The Lord Commander immediately went outside, only to see his brothers gathering. They all stabbed him while uttering "For the Watch," but the most fatal blow was given by Olly.
While the events were written in George R.R. Martin's "A Dance of Dragons," on which the current season is loosely based, the fate of Jon Snow is still uncertain.
Several fans are hoping that the character would survive the ambush that was staged by his own men, but the actor who portrays the beloved role seems to extinguish that spark of hope as early as now.
In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Kit Harington said: "But I've been told I'm dead. I'm dead. I'm not coming back next season. So that's all I can tell you, really."
Still, there are theories claiming that Jon Snow might return from the dead as Azor Ahai, or The Price That Was Promised, once he gets resurrected by Melisandre (Carice van Houten).
There are also rumors claiming that Harington is already in "GoT's" location set in Belfast, after a Redditor named AnakinGabriel posted the information online with an alleged photo of the actor hanging out outside a local restaurant named The Barking Dog. Does this mean that Jon Snow will still return in "GoT"?
HBO has yet to comment about the alleged rumors and theories, but it's likely that fans will only find out the answer when "Game of Thrones" returns for its sixth season.
