"Frostpunk," the game about ensuring the survival of a whole city developed and published by 11 bit studios, is arriving to Steam, GOG.com and Humble Store for personal computers (PCs) on Apr. 24.

Karol Rufus "Rufus Blackwood" Kubica, the community manager at 11 bit studios announced the launch of the game's official release date trailer titled "Serenity" via the Steam Community. Kubica also wrote that Grzegorz Miechowski, the managing director at 11 bit studios said that the studio had delayed the release from the initial plan of Quarter 1 of 2018 because they needed more time to do the final polishing.

According to the Steam page of the game, "Frostpunk" is set in a frozen world where people had developed steam-powered technology to counter the cold. Players take on the role of the city ruler who is tasked to manage both the inhabitants as well as the infrastructure the inhabitants live in. "Frostpunk" is a game that challenges how one deals with moral issues and challenges the basic foundation of what is considered as an organized society as optimization and resource management more often than not conflicts with empathy and decision making.

The game begs the following questions: "What decisions will players make so that the society can survive?," "What will players do when pushed to their limits?" and perhaps the most important one, "Who will players become in the process?"

As the city ruler, players must maintain the inhabitants' hope and will to live as it will ensure the survival of the city as a whole. Players must also make, establish and execute laws that will guarantee a society that abides by similar rules and beliefs. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, players must make carefully weigh their choices with regards to moral issues. In addition, "Frostpunk" also allows players to explore, at some point, the world outside the city as it is a means to secure a better future for the inhabitants.

"Frostpunk" will retail at $29.99 for the digital version and $34.99 for the retail version in the form of the special Victorian Edition that includes the "New London - The Art of Frostpunk" hardcover book showing off the artwork and concept images from the game's icy interior.
