Things may not be looking good for the fan-favorite couples of "The Fosters" in the summer finale of season 3, but will it last until the show returns for its second part in winter?
In episode 10 titled "Lucky," Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) are still in the thick of their marital problem after the latter's boss Monte (Annika Marks) kissed her. A sneak peek of the episode shows that the tension between the couple is not yet over. In the midst of their preparation for the 40th wedding anniversary of Lena's parents, it seems that the two are not in the right frame to host a party.
Could this party preparation further inflict a deeper rift between the couple? Or could the anniversary remind them how much they love each other? In an interview with Yahoo! TV, Saum expressed her beliefs that Lena and Stef will eventually overcome their current problem.
"I definitely have hope for this couple," the actress shared. "I think that no matter what's going on, they have a fierce love for each other."
Meanwhile, Stef's biological son Brandon (David Lambert) and their foster child Callie (Maia Mitchell) decided to be intimate after years of having to control their feelings to avoid violating the foster rules. They both thought that her adoption would no longer push through because of her previous run-in with one of the members of Girls United.
Because of this, Callie's chance to belong permanently to a family might be in trouble. She has to prove to the court that she is worthy of becoming a member of the Fosters, but admitting that she and her potential brother got physically intimate could crush all her hopes in an instant.
The summer finale of "The Fosters" season 3 will be aired Monday, Aug. 17. Then the series will take a long hiatus before the second part of the season premieres in winter.
ABC Family has yet to announce the release date of "The Fosters" season 3B, but it might come out in January 2016. The network is also expected to reveal their plans for a fourth season anytime soon.
