Callie (Maia Mitchell) could face a lot of consequences in the summer finale of "The Fosters" season 3 because of her past decisions.

In the penultimate episode for this season, Callie and her foster brother Brandon (David Lambert) finally gave in to their long-repressed feelings and slept together as they presumed that the petition for adoption filed by Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) would not be granted. They never expected that the court would still push through with the adoption process. Her intimate relationship with her prospective adoptive brother could put her adoption at risk.

In her recent interview with Zap2it, Mitchell talked about Callie's highly complicated situation as well as the other surprising challenges that she has to face in court in the episode titled "Lucky."

"There's a big reveal. She is also dealing with she's called out the judge and she's called out these people on 'Fost & Found.' She's really standing up for foster care and foster kids," the 21-year-old actress said. "You're going to see she's really conflicted about a lot of things in the courtroom. She's served with a bit of a curveball when she gets to court."

Being adopted could mean that she has to stop whatever she and Brandon just started, despite repressing their feelings since the first season. According to Mitchell, Callie has to choose whether she wants to keep her relationship with Brandon, or give a shot at having a forever family with the Fosters. But if she could have it her way, Mitchell would want Callie to have them both.

"I am all for Brandon and Callie being together. They're in love and I do root for them," Mitchell said. "I also really root for her being in a family. It's touchy and it's sensitive. It's a strange subject."

Could Callie find a way to have her forever home with The Fosters, but still manage to stay with Brandon at the same time?

"The Fosters" season 3 summer finale airs on Monday, Aug. 17, on ABC Family.
