Square Enix has been noticeably quiet for the past few months regarding the status of the "Final Fantasy 7" remake production. The Japanese game studio already teased some screenshots of the gameplay last year, which offered a glimpse of the lead characters' new look. Following those revelations, some fans were beginning to speculate that the game project would be completed very soon. However, a recent job listing posted by Square Enix suggests that the development of the remake will take a little more time.

Square Enix has published a job listing, which targets a level planner to work on the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7" remake title. Based on the game company's description for the job position, it looks like there is a signifant amount of work still to be completed in the project, and that has led many to now believe that the game can no longer be expected within 2018.

So far, Square Enix has already implemented different programs in developing the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, which would recreate the contents and design of the original video game and give them high-quality rendering. However, the company seems to be admitting via the job posting that there is still much to be done if the company is to meet fans' expectations for the new game.

"That said, we will tackle the production of this big title by establishing core members of various positions such as level planner, battle planner, designer, engineer, etc. including existing members of the development team. Interested applicants are expected to work as a core member," the job listing states.

Per recent rumors, it is likely that Square Enix will participate at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 this coming June, wherein the next batch of promo teasers for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will be presented to fans.

Still, there is no guarantee that the game title will be released anytime soon, especially since Square Enix is still very much focused on the remake's development. Although, game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed in an interview with Famitsu that the Square Enix team is prioritizing "Final Fantasy 7" remake over its other upcoming video games, including "Kingdom Hearts 3."

Tetsuya even mentioned that the "FF7" remake is currently ahead of "KH3" in some way, suggesting that the former will be the first one to be released.
