'Fast and Furious 8' cast news: Scott Eastwood announces inclusion in film with moving message

"Fast and the Furious 8" officially welcomes Scott Eastwood to the fold. Universal Pictures

"The Longest Ride" star Scott Eastwood officially becomes the newest "Fast and Furious 8" cast member. The actor broke the news via his Instagram with a tear-jerker of a message going into his "Fast and Furious" experience.

"It's hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast [and] Furious," Eastwood wrote. "To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It's a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can't wait to join it," he gushed.

Eastwood will introduce a new character in "Fast and Furious 8." The actor will play one of the men working for government operative Mr. Nobody, portrayed by Kurt Russell, whom Eastwood referred to as his "childhood hero."

The actor did not forget to mention the late Paul Walker, who was a close friend to him and one he looks up to. Walker's death in 2013 meant for his beloved character Brian O'Conner to retire in the "Fast and Furious" franchise but his presence will still be felt in the film.

Needless to say, "Fast and Furious 8" will definitely pay homage to the actor and Eastwood promises to do his best in being part of that. "For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul's story, and the FAST family is like a dream come true," the actor wrote.

Eastwood also took time to thank everyone who made his "Fast and Furious 8" stint possible. But most especially, he made a promise to Walker going into the cherished project. "Paul - I am going to make you proud," Eastwood wrote, ending his long heartfelt message.

There are no specifics yet regarding Eastwood's character in "Fast and Furious 8," but speculations have it that will play the role of Walker's character's brother.

Fans will see Eastwood in action in "Fast and Furious 8" on April 14, 2017.
