The Season 3 of Empire is finally here to extinguish the flames of curiosity that were stroked by the Season 2 finale, where Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) and Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) were fighting on a balcony. As Andre Lyon (Trai Byers), Rhonda's husband approaches either of the two is about to fall off. Will it be Rhonda or Anika? Well, season 3 is here to answer att questions..

One of the main themes of the new season is that it seeks to explore the past lives of main characters, bringing many curious details to fore. The undercurrents of Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious's (Terrence Howard) relationship and their failed marriage are explored. To the delight of fans the teenage Cookie and Lucious are depicted in the season played by Ajiona Alexus and Jeremy Carver. As the season premieres Cookie, an innocent and beautiful teenager falls for a bad-boy. By exploring how their relationship started out and progressed many questions find an answer and fans are finally able to see how they got to where they are now.

Another new face in the series is Ezri Walker who is set to play Zeah, a 16-year-old nerd who is unable to choose between the prospects of earning a degree at an elite institution and taking up a career at Lyons. 

What's more, Taye Diggs will be joining the show as a celebrity guest star. Fans are very excited over the news that he will be playing a character that very much resembles Barack Obama.  Appearing as Angelo Dubois, Diggs gets to play a councilman who gives up a lucrative career to devote himself to community service and political issues.

A theme that reverbrates throughout the series is whether Lucious made the right decision by marrying Anika. Since Cookie was finally hoping for a better future with Lucious, it remains to be seen how that affects the Lyons given that Cookie is not unknown for her vengeance.
