Rhonda (Kaitlyn Doubleday) may have survived her fall down the stairs during the midseason finale of season 2, but fans of "Empire" will find out if she fell to her death at the end of the previous season when the series returns for season 3.

Speaking with TVLine, showrunner Ilene Chaiken teased that something bad might happen to Andre Lyon's (Trai Byers) wife.

According to Chaiken, the balcony fight between Rhonda and Anika (Grace Gealey) will end up in a disaster.

"One of them is simply going to win the fight, and the other is likely to be gone," she said.

This is not the first time that Rhonda's life was endangered because of a fall. In December's midseason finale, titled "Et tu, Brute?" Rhonda, who was pregnant then, fell off the stairs after being pushed by an unknown person. Though her life was spared, the fall caused her to lose her supposedly first child.

When she found out that Anika was the one who shoved her, she confronted her new mother-in-law in the balcony just after Anika married Andre's father, Lucious (Terrence Howard). Their shouting match turned brutal, and the two of them held on to their lives as they tried to push each other off the railing.

Chaiken noted that based on Andre's reaction, one of the ladies actually fell of the balcony.

"And it would be ludicrous to say that would be a survivable fall! [Laughs] We talked about how high up they are – and we agreed it was somewhere around 30 stories. Assuming one of those ladies went over, she's in for it."

Director Sanaa Hamri also gave a hint about Rhonda's possible fate when she sat down for a talk with Variety.

According to the director, the incident will leave a great impact on the eldest Lyon's life after "witnessing a death so that's going to deeply affecting him."

Since he already suffered a lot after losing their son, it could mean that he will also be greatly devastated at the beginning of the upcoming season.

"Empire" season 3 is expected to return on FOX this fall.
