'Empire' season 2 spoilers, casting rumors: Eminem, Oprah in talks to appear in the show

It sure looks like FOX's "Empire" will have a star-studded season 2, if rumors about its cast additions turn out to be true.

A recent report claims that "Scandal" alum Columbus Short might join the stellar cast of "Empire" in its sophomore season. E! News caught up with the actor earlier this month, who neither confirmed nor denied the rumors of his involvement in the show.

When asked if the rumors are true, the actor only said, "I'm just saying it wouldn't be a shock."

Meanwhile, Billboard had a chat with series producer Brian Gazer who willingly dished about the direction of the show for the upcoming season. According to Gazer, they are currently working hard to get multimedia mogul Oprah Winfrey and rapper Eminem on board for "Empire" season 2.

"Eminem, I know, loves our show. And I produced '8 Mile.' I'm going to beg him to get on our show," Grazer mentioned. "He and Oprah Winfrey. Somehow I'm going to get one or both of them on our show."

It might not be impossible for the drama to invite big-named stars to join them as guests. Back in season 1, "Empire" managed to get a handful of celebrities to appear in the series, including award-winning musicians Jennifer Hudson, Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. It also featured Naomi Campbell and Courtney Love in bit roles.

Oprah's possible appearance could also be a result of "Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels having worked with the influential host in his movie titled "Lee Daniels' The Butler." In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the multimedia star talked about Daniel's persuasion to get her to appear in one of the episodes of the hip hop musical.

"I tell him: 'Lee, it's not enough that you've taken every viewer possible on Wednesday night. Now you want me to leave my own network?'" said Oprah.

Viewers will have to wait longer to know if any of the rumored "Empire" season 2 guests would really come to the show.
