CBS has already announced the premiere date of "Elementary" season 5, starring Jonny Lee Miller as the world-renowned detective Sherlock Holmes. The American TV series, based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's popular novel, is rumored to bring back the complicated love affair of Sherlock with the criminal mastermind, Jamie Moriarty (Natalie Dormer). That said, the main protagonist's archnemesis could actually help him to recover from depression this time around.

Jamie Moriarty is one of the very interesting characters introduced on "Elementary," although the character has only been mentioned in the previous seasons for a few times. Jamie was last seen on the show back in season 3, although her appearance was very brief where she sent a letter to Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) concerning a murder plot by the New York crime leader Elana March (Gina Gershon). After the plot to kill Elena while inside the prison, Jamie expressed her intention to go out of prison as she has unfinished business with Sherlock, and Joan herself was said to have a role to play in this.

After the season 3 finale, "Elementary" has not shown a glimpse of Jamie Moriarty, leaving fans to think that the character might have already been dissolved in the series. However, the show's executive producer Rob Doherty teased in last year's interview that one of the love interests of Sherlock from the previous seasons will make a return. This led fans to speculate that Doherty is actually talking about Dormer's character. To recall, Sherlock had a brief romance with Jamie when the former first thought that she was an art restorer named Irene Adler.

The timing of Jamie's return in "Elementary" season 6 is perfect, given that Sherlock needs to recover from the series of hallucinations he has been having in the previous chapter. Spoilers suggest that Sherlock will be pushing people away due to his condition, and not even his most reliable confidante, Joan, will be able to help him.

"Elementary" season 6 will premiere on April 30, Monday, at 10 p.m. EST. The upcoming season will take the place of "Scorpion" in CBS's primetime block.
