After the fifth season of "Elementary" kicked off with a bang, Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) will take on more cases together in the upcoming episodes.

In the season 5 premiere, the detectives were tasked to find out who the culprit was behind the mysterious bomb explosion in a crowded park. The two followed the cops' leads claiming that the bomber was also the same one who was responsible for the bombing explosions several years ago.

Pieces of evidence pointed out that the bomber was a man named Nathan Resor (Matthew Del Negro). But Nathan denied the accusations that he has something to do with the recent park explosion. When the two seemed to be on a dead end when Nathan's house turned out to be free from any piece of evidence that will prove his involvement in the bombing, Joan asked Nathan's former inmate Shinwell Johnson (Nelsan Ellis) to help them with the case. Since Shinwell owes Joan his life for saving him while she was still a surgeon, the former has no other option but to provide more information about the suspected bomber.

After Sherlock and Joan successfully captured Nathan and his accomplice, Cray Fielder (Lee Tergesen), at the end of the first episode of "Elementary" season 5, Joan might find herself interacting with Shinwell more in the upcoming episodes of the series.

According to the synopsis for the episode titled "Worth Several Cities," Joan will contemplate on Shinwell's unconventional request.

"When the leader of a local street gang abducts Holmes to compel him to find the person responsible for a hit on his men, Holmes and Watson get caught in the middle of an international hunt to recover a centuries old, priceless artifact. Also, Watson debates whether a personal favor Shinwell asks of her is outside her comfort zone," the episode synopsis for the new episode reads as reported by The Futon Critic.

"Elementary" season 5 episode 2 is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 16, on CBS.
