'Driveclub' getting hardcore mode in February

Evolution Studios will add a Hardcore Handling option to the PlayStation 4-exclusive racing video game "Driveclub" next month, game director Paul Rustchynsky revealed.

Rustchynsky confirmed the said update through his Twitter account, saying that the new gameplay option that allows games to turn off stability control, traction control, and other assists will be released in February.

According to the game director, the mode will only be available for cars upon release. This means that there will be no Hardcore Handling support for the motorcycles until further notice. But he also specifies that the new game can be used in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Rustchynsky also mentioned that players will be slower if they opt to use the upcoming gameplay mode, saying, "you will be able to beat drift scores, but you're going to be slower in hardcore as you have to gets on the brakes earlier!"

However, there will be no separate hardcore leaders for the Hardcore Handling mode upon its release. The game director admitted that the studio lacked enough time and resources to come up with the dedicated leaderboards for Hardcore Handling but it would be the cause of delay for the upcoming gameplay mode.

Aside from the upcoming gameplay mode, the game studio revealed earlier this month that they will release a "content packed" update for "Driveclub" sometime in February.

The update will reportedly come out with an in-game version of the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II. Rustchynsky also said that gamers will be finally allowed to change the filter's intensity, as well as the opportunity to get more Stars and Trophies. In addition, Evolution community manager Jamie Brayshaw also revealed that the content update will come up with the latest Photo Mode filters. According to Brayshaw, the upcoming filters will have "B&W, posterize, night vision, bleach, cinematic... all of them!"

Full details about the official release date of both the Hardcore Handling gameplay mode and the content-rich update for "Driveclub" are expected to be announced in the coming days.
