Joanne Froggart, the actress who plays the role of Anna in the British period drama Downton Abbey, continued to spill more details about the love story of Anna and Mr. Bates in the fifth season of the show.

During an interview published in Vanity Fair, the critically-acclaimed actress divulged more information about the fan favorite duo during the start of the season.

"They start Season 5 in a not-so-positive light," Froggatt stated. "Obviously they have a lot to overcome and it won't happen very quickly. And they may never get to the end. There's still this cloud hanging over them. They're trying to find the space to heal themselves and move forward with their lives."

The actress also added, "There's also the issue of Mr. Green's death, Which keeps getting brought back up. It's difficult to escape this thing they're trying to escape. There are some moments of happiness though."

Also, the love triangle between Lady Mary, portrayed by Michelle Dockery, Charles Blake, played by Julian Ovenden, and Anthony Gillingham, portrayed by Tom Culen, will still be in full swing this season.

But according to Dockery, "Mary doesn't settle with anyone any time soon; she was never going to. That's important, not just for the story, but for the audience, because Matthew [Dan Stevens] was such a well-loved character, and Dan, of course, so you can't really have Mary marry someone immediately. She's just feeling her way through things, really. She's still being very impulsive. I love that about her, that she doesn't always think things through. She'll make a decision and she goes with it, and then often, she'll regret it afterwards or think, in hindsight, she could have dealt with it better. I love that about her. It's a very human quality."

On the other hand, Buzzfeed reported that the relationship between Mary and her father Robert, played by Hugh Bonneville, stayed complicated all throughout the season.

Downton Abbey Season 5 debuts in the UK this coming fall.
