The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has confirmed that Kojima Productions director Hideo Kojima and Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro will be the keynote speakers at the upcoming DICE Summit this year.

Kojima is known for his "Metal Gear" video game series. He was also responsible for producing some of the popular video games like "Boktai," "Zone of the Enders," and "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow."

Meanwhile, del Toro became popular for his dark fantasy masterpieces, including "Pan's Labyrinth" and "The Devil's Backbone." He also produced several blockbuster hits like "Kung Fu Panda 2," "Puss in Boots," and "Mama."

The two were supposed to work together on Konami's PlayStation 4-exclusive survival horror video game "Silent Hills," but the project was cancelled in April 2015. This time, the collaboration between the two will finally happen during DICE Summit's "A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro."

According to the press release posted on DICE Summit's website, "These master storytellers will offer insight into their creative vision and the driving forces behind their artistic pursuits."

"This conversation will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other's work that remain a constant source of inspiration," the press release said.

The keynote event will be moderated by longtime video game host Geoff Keighley.

It will not be a surprise if Kojima and Del Toro will be asked why the "Silent Hills" project did not push through. But they are not expected to provide in-depth details about the project's cancellation.

The keynote event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tthe entire DICE Summit 2016 will start on Tuesday, Feb. 16. It will begin with a presentation titled "Assumptions and Expectations with Interactivity and Magic," which will be led by Penn Jillette and Randy Pitchford
