With the record-breaking opening weekend ticket sales of "Deadpool," it is not surprising to hear the official announcement of the sequel of the R-Rated superhero film.

The announcement of the development of "Deadpool 2" came just days before the film debuted on the movie screens on Feb 12. Insiders told The Hollywood Reporter that original screenplay writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will work on the scripts for the upcoming film. However, it has not yet been revealed if Tim Miller will return to the director's chair for the next movie.

Reese, Wernick, and Miller lobbied with actor Ryan Reynolds so film studios would allow them to make the superhero film without compromising its R-Rated theme. Good thing the 20th Century Fox greenlit the project, and it is currently breaking box office records and garnering positive reviews from critics.

The movie earned $260 million worldwide on its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

Meanwhile, Brianna Hildebrand is eager to hear news regarding the future of her character Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

In a recent interview with Yahoo, Hildebrand admitted that she has yet to be contacted to discuss any possibility of her reprising her role in "Deadpool 2."

"I haven't really talked to anybody about sequels, it's just the word on the street at the moment," Hildebrand said. "But that would be so awesome. ... I would definitely want for Negasonic's character to be more explored. But I'm not actually sure about [where she fits into the wider X-Men universe] because there's not much that I know about the X-Men world."

"Avatar" actor Stephen Lang, meanwhile, recently told his Twitter followers that he would like to portray the role of Nathan Summer/Cable in the next "Deadpool" movie.

20th Century Fox and "Deadpool" producers have yet to announce casting details for the sequel of the film.
