'Days Gone' release date delay news: Zombie- biker title not arriving until 2019

"Days Gone" delayed for 2019 release, Sony confirms. Sony/ Days Gone

For those who hoped for Sony's biker-themed zombie survival title "Days Gone" to see a release this year, now is probably the appropriate time to break the news of the much-anticipated game's release delay to 2019.

In an announcement, Sony confirmed that "Days Gone" will no longer be seeing a release anytime soon this 2018. In the games' new schedule, it has been set for a 2019 launch, which did not indicate a specific date.

As far as reasons go, Sony did not go into further details on the basis behind the abrupt delay of the zombie-survival title.

The game developed by Bend studio, known for its popular series "Syphon Filter" and PlayStation Vita's "Uncharted," was originally revealed in E3 2016 and was set for a release this 2018.

Story-wise, the upcoming title will see players take on the role of Deacon St. John -- a defunct bounty hunter -- fighting through hordes of mindless zombies while riding a motorbike. Although similar in many ways to the undead, developers note that these pseudo-zombies are different from the traditional infected we see on the regular. These mindless carnivores are called "Freakers" -- humans and animals that fell victim to the outbreak that is not exactly dead but alive.

Sony's Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida announced that the game will be dropping sometime this year. GameTyrant said that the game's release cancellation this year came as no surprise as no specific release date was shared during Yoshida's initial announcement.

In contrast, Bloody Disgusting argues that the game's release delay was suspect since that game was already playable during E3 2017.

Ultimately, the game will now be seeing a new window launch date of 2019. The game will come as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

No news about a possible port to to other consoles has been shared, but fans should always keep their eyes open for more announcements in the coming weeks.
