Popular fantasy roleplaying game "Dark Souls" is going to be remastered for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Pro, and Xbox One X. Aside from that, it will also be receiving a port for the Nintendo Switch. The remastered edition of the hit RPG game will finally allow players to travel through the harrowing world of Lordran at a smooth pace of 60 frames-per-second.

"Dark Souls" was originally released in 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PC.

The game earned a lot of popularity, but aside from positive comments from the gaming community, the RPG also received a fair amount of hate and negative comments due to the game's difficulty. The remastered edition of "Dark Souls" will be sticking to the game's roots, and will not be changing any of the story elements or the in-game controls and mechanics. According to Polygon, what the remastered edition will be doing, will be improving the game's graphics and screen-rate-per-second while allowing owners of newer gen consoles to play the game as well.

Aside from better graphics, the game will have a few more changes as well. Player versus player and player versus environment combat has been expanded to include up to six players. In the original version of "Dark Souls" only up to four people could be in the same area at the same time.

A dedicated server will also be created, allowing players to summon help in a timelier manner.

The Nintendo Switch trailer for "Dark Souls" was uploaded to Nintendo UK's YouTube channel on Jan. 11. A little over a minute long, the video showcased the remastered edition's improved graphics before releasing an announcement regarding the game's launch date. "Dark Souls" aims to release its remastered edition on May 5, 2018. While the trailer was for the Nintendo Switch, the same release date applies for all other consoles that the remastered edition will be coming to.

Rumors of PC players getting Steam discounts (if they already own Dark Souls on the platform) have also been spreading around the internet. However, Steam released a statement saying otherwise.
