'Daredevil' season 3 spoilers, update: Kevin Smith keen to do some directing

Will Kevin Smith's TV directing prowess proven in "The Flash"get him a directing stint in "Daredevil" season 3? Netflix

After directing an episode of "The Flash" that turned out to be well-received by fans, filmmaker and comic book writer Kevin Smith now sets his eyes on Netflix's Charlie Cox-led "Daredevil."

Smith wants to direct a season 3 episode as well as one of "Defenders," the mini-series where Daredevil and the rest of characters on Netflix's Marvel shows—Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist—join forces.

In an interview with IGN, Smith said that he pitched the idea to direct an episode of "Daredevil" season 3 to Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada, who drew the arcs Smith wrote for the character.

Recalling what he told Quesada, Smith said, "Dude, I want to direct Daredevil, man. That'd be wild to be able to do it in real-life – let's co-direct it, that'd be cool, just like we did the book."

The "Yoga Hosers" director was referring to "Guardian Devil," an eight-issue story arc that saw Daredevil caring for a baby that may be either from the Messiah or the Anti-Christ.

The tale featured all the characters that have been set up in "Daredevil" season 1 and 2, expect for iconic Daredevil villains Mysterio and Bullseye, who Cox actually wants to see his character fight in "Daredevil" season 3.

"We could co-direct an episode and then, like, take the passion from the page to the screen," Smith went on to say before declaring, "I'm going to try and make that Daredevil thing happen."

It is unclear whether or not production for "Daredevil" season 3 has begun. It is believed that "Defenders" will be the priority. Smith himself said Netflix is "gearing up" for the mini-series right now.

He gushed about being able to "get a piece" of the upcoming series, which is expected to premiere next year. Right now, as unclear as Smith's possible directing stint is the premiere of "Daredevil" season 3.

Rumor has it that the show will give way for "Defenders," but fans won't have to worry since they will be able to get their Man Without Fear fix there.
