'Daredevil' season 2 spoilers: Drew Goddard teases exciting sophomore season for Matt Murdock

Series creator and former showrunner Drew Goddard shared several reasons why "Daredevil" fans should look forward to the show's sophomore season even if he no longer runs the show.

In an exclusive interview with IGN, the screenwriter, producer, and filmmaker revealed how Marvel's Matt Murdock ended up on Netflix.

"I went into Marvel and talked to them about making it as a movie a couple of years ago, long after the Affleck movie. But what we all sort of realised is that, this movie doesn't want to cost $200 million. The thing about Matt Murdock is, he's not saving the world. He's just keeping his corner clean. So it would feel wrong to have spaceships crashing in the middle of the city," Goddard said.

But since Marvel is known for making big-budget superhero movies, he felt that it would be better if the character would be featured on the small screen.

Goddard also said that Netflix is the ideal venue for "Daredevil" instead of the cinemas since its comic book version is rated R, which is something that Marvel Studios does not usually do. "I feel like Netflix was the best possible home for that, otherwise you'd end up with a watered down version," the filmmaker said.

Meanwhile, a report posted on Movie Pilot speculated that Netflix's "Daredevil" season 2 and the soon-to-be released Marvel's "Captain America 3: Civil War" movie are somehow connected.

According to the report, the comic book version of Civil War mentioned that the fateful events that caused chaos among the superheroes were brought about by a terrible mistake committed by a group of inexperienced superheroes.

It could be possible that Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and his team composed of The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Elektra (Elodie Yung), and Bullseye will be the cause of the said rescue mission going wrong. Since the second season of Netflix's "Daredevil" will premiere before the upcoming film, it could possibly be tackled in the streaming series.

Netflix's "Daredevil" season 2 is expected to premiere in 2016.
