The production for the sophomore season of Netflix's superhero Web series "Marvel's Daredevil" is currently underway, and more details about the upcoming season are slowly being revealed.

Marvel Comics Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada revealed that "The Walking Dead" actor Jon Bernthal will portray the iconic role of Frank Castle/ Punisher in "Daredevil" season 2

"We're so happy to have Jon Bernthal because we have such a world-class cast on Daredevil." Quesada said during the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con.

Now the first glimpse of the Punisher had been leaked by Just Jared, showing Bernthal attacking one of his co-actors in one of the scenes in the series.

The Punisher is known as one of the most popular Marvel Comics' antiheroes who fights crime with the use of force, torture, and other methods of violence. He is also known to be a master of martial arts, guerilla warfare, as well as the use of a number of weapons.

Quesada also said that Bernthal and lead actor Charlie Cox, who portrays the titular role of Matt Murdock/ Daredevil, have the same world-class acting caliber, which is why it would be exciting to see them both in the same scene.

Meanwhile, Shade VFX CEO Bryan Godwin talked about the unique visual effects of "Daredevil" that lured audiences into the series.

"I think the goal of most visual effects are — or at least should be — to support the story," Godwin shared exclusively with Tech Times. "[You] don't pull the audience out of the experience they're having. Our favorite projects are ones where we work closely with filmmakers, directors, writers and producers to design effects that really pack a punch, without suspending the audience's disbelief of the world they're in."

"Daredevil" utilizes very minimal visual effects which viewers hardly notice, but it works to give the series the grittier, more realistic vibe that it is known for.

Shade VFX is also the same studio that provided the effects to other popular film and TV series, including "22 Jump Street," "Argo," "American Horror Story," and "True Detective." But because of their work in "Daredevil," the barely-seen visual effects earned a nomination from the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Visual Effects.

"Daredevil" season 2 is slated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2016.
