Matt Murdoch and his alter-ego will have a new ally when Marvel's "Daredevil" returns to Netflix in season 2.

Deadline earlier revealed that "The Butler" star Stephen Rider will portray the role of stern district attorney Blake Tower. He is known in the comics as a trusted friend of Charlie Cox's character, and he will help in bringing down the most vicious villains in Hell's Kitchen.

Rider joins the line-up of new regular characters in the sophomore season of "Daredevil," alongside "The Walking Dead" star Jon Bernthal who will portray the role of vigilante Frank Castle/ The Punisher, as well as "G.I. Joe" star Elodie Young as Elektra.

Recently, Bernthal flaunted The Punisher's arsenal in his Twitter account. The photo shows rows of high-powered guns which his character will use to fight off the lawless beings in Hell's Kitchen.

The series will also see the return of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, as well as Rosario Dawson who will reprise her role as Claire Temple.

Meanwhile, a set photo uploaded by an onlooker on Twitter teased that Murdoch and Page will have a deeper relationship in the upcoming season. The photo shows the blind lawyer and the law firm secretary holding hands. While the two have a long romantic relationship in the Marvel comics, the TV series has yet to confirm if the characters will also be more than friends this season.

But Page may not be the only one in Murdoch's heart since Elektra is now joining the cast in the sophomore season of "Daredevil." Those who have read the comic series know that the crime-fighting lawyer and the Greek ninja assassin shares a romantic history together.

The filming for "Daredevil" season 2 is currently underway and scenes are being shot in New York City. Netflix will feature the return of the fan-favorite superhero series sometime in 2016.
