Dallas Cowboys trade rumors 2018: Cowboys eye safety player Earl Thomas, to trade Dez Bryant in exchange

With the current predicament the Dallas Cowboys are in with Dez Bryant's future salary cap, which will see the team budget take a dig after two years, rumors are swirling around the NFL community of a possible exchange involving Seattle Seahawks' Earl Thomas.

The rumors started when Thomas expressed his interest in joining the Cowboys at the end of a season game.

This reported admission from Thomas fueled a lot of talks about the Cowboys possibly releasing or exchanging wide receiver Dez Bryant for the said safety player.

However, Seattle Times argues that this will be highly unlikely since there is no concrete evidence that the Seahawks is on board for trading the 28-year-old player. They add that with Thomas' past and current performance and history with the team, he will likely be inaugurated into the teams' Ring of Honor.

Late last year, Adam Schein, NFL columnist, named Bryant and Thomas among players who need a change of scenery. Citing that the Seahawks are in need of makeover, roster-wise, Schein indicated that Thomas should be among those who are on the chopping block.

Bryant also made an appearance on the list, and Schein discussed that the former is done being a receiver. He added that Bryant has not turned in a game changing play in the past 22 regular season games.

Lastly, he explains that Bryant is not the "transcendent' receiver he once was -- what the Cowboys need is a player with much more fire power to occupy the position.

But regardless of whether they need or want a change of scenery, Seattle Times say that if the trade-up really is in the plans, it would be an interesting event to watch out for since the Seahawks own the 18th pick in the draft followed by the Cowboys at 19th. These particular mid-round picks could help both teams facilitate a possible trade.

As of present time, all these are just speculations. The Seahawks and the Cowboys have yet to openly confirm or deny any of the rumors that have to do with the trade-up consisting Thomas and Bryant.
