SyFy finally released the trailer for the fourth and last season of "Continuum," which will premiere in September.

The action-packed Canadian sci-fi drama created by Simon Barry will wrap up with six new episodes beginning this fall. The final season order was announced by series star Rachel Nichols, who portrays the role of a time-travelling cop named Keira Cameron from the year 2077 who was trapped in the year 2012 with a terrorist group known as Liber8 whose members are trying to escape their scheduled execution.

To stop the Liber8 members from changing the past to avoid their execution, Kiera had to pretend to be a special agent working with 2012 cops Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster) and Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen) to succeed.

"All great stories deserve an end. I am excited and grateful to finish Continuum with the riveting conclusion it deserves," the actress said in a statement, as posted by Entertainment Weekly.

The first season of "Continuum" aired 10 episodes, while the second and third seasons both had 13 episodes each. For its series finale, six episodes are slated to air later this year.

Nichols recently told The Province that fans enjoyed watching the sci-fi series because of Vancouver's "otherworldly, futuristic feel," which is the perfect location for the story.

"The city — the aesthetic, the architecture, all the glass, all the windows — especially at night, but even during the day — it has this otherworldly futuristic feel," the actress said. "I mean, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and I've lived in many of them so I feel like I can say that and speak the absolute truth."

For season four, Keira has to work with fellow time-traveler Brad Tonkin (Ryan Robbins) to defeat the soldiers from the future who appeared toward the end of season 3. Keira also has to do everything to stop former Liber8 member Matthew Kellog (Stephen Lobo) from reshaping the future based on his own needs.

"Continuum" season 4 airs on Sept. 4 in Canada, while U.S. audiences will be able to catch up beginning Sept. 11.
