Animated film "Coco" produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures will hit theaters in Mexico on Oct. 27 and in the United States on Nov. 22. Most countries will get to see the movie on the big screen sometime in November as well.

The official U.S. trailer was first released earlier this year in June. Set in Mexico, "Coco" is the story of a boy named Miguel, who one day dreams of becoming a musician like his great, great grandfather. Much to Miguel's dismay, his family believes music is nothing more than a curse. One day he and his dog stumble upon a guitar and are transported into the land of the dead. The two of them find themselves on a quest, not only to find Miguel's great, great grandfather and a way back to the land of the living, but to uncover the mystery of Miguel's family as well.

Since June, Disney and Pixar have released several other teasers, trailers, extended trailers, and song numbers that give hints about the movie's plot. These videos are available on their joint YouTube Channel.

"Coco" was first announced back in 2012, but the first visuals, plot details, and cast details for the upcoming movie were not announced until Dec. 6, 2016.

"Coco" was directed by Lee Unkrich, who was Toy Story 3's director and the co-director of "Monster Inc," "Toy Story 2" and "Finding Nemo." The movie's script was written by Adrian Molina, a screenwriter and storyboard artist for Pixar.

Some of Coco's cast members include Anthony Gonzales as 12-year-old Miguel, Gael García Bernal as Hector, Benjamin Bratt as Ernesto de la Cruz, and Renee Victor as Abuelita.

Snippets for some of the upcoming songs have also been released on Pixar and Disney's joint YouTube channel and announcements regarding soundtrack and movie updates can be found on the movie's official Twitter page.
