Literally hours before the 2014-2015 season of NBA began, the Cleveland Cavaliers is still polishing its roster for the league's 69th season.

One of the deals that the Cavs need to fix before the opening night involves veteran Anderson Varejao, who has been with the team for almost 10 years.

Yahoo Sports reported Monday that the Brazilian player and the team are in deep "serious" talks about his contract extension for the past weeks. However, they have yet to reach an agreement as of press time.

The 32-year-old center/power forward will become an unrestricted free agent after his contract with the Cavs expires in July 2015, but he and the team both expressed their desires to extend it much longer.

Varejao earned an average of 8.4 points and 9.7 rebounds last season. He is known as one of the most aggressive defenders and rebounders in the league.

It would be beneficial if the 6-foot-11-inch player will be part of the team now that LeBron James is back. He is known to be one of James' closest friends even after he moved to Miami Heat. Head coach David Blatt mentioned that the two players have amazing on-court chemistry together.

Meanwhile, there are rumors saying that a spot in the Cavs roster is reserved for Ray Allen.  Team manager David Griffin reportedly said that the team is eager to welcome Allen, if he decides to join them.

"I think in his case when he decides this is something he's passionate about we are going to be more than willing to let him know how passionate we are about him," the Cavs manager said, as reported by Breathecast. "I don't think we would ever give up on it."

He also said that Ray Allen is one of the most sought-after players in the free agent status today.

Griffin said, "Until he signs that is going to be a target for everybody. Ray is somebody that fits us as a shooter. His championship pedigree fits us at a really high level."

Yet Allan is still unsure of his decision as of the moment.

"I'm not in any rush [to make a decision]. I've played 18 years, and the way I look at my career, I'm content with everything that I've done. I just want to take this summer and see how it goes," he stated.
