The doctors treat one of their own in the upcoming episode of "Chicago Med" season 2.

Titled "White Butterflies," this week's episode will see the doctors disagree about how they should treat Dr. Robyn Charles (Mekia Cox). According to the official synopsis, things heat up at the hospital when Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) challenges Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and other Chicago Med staff over the right treatment for Dr. Robyn.

Meanwhile, a sensitive case involving a young patient turns into a crime. This leads Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) to ask help from Detective Jay Halstead (guest star Jesse Lee Soffer, from "Chicago P.D."). April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) team up on a complicated case, while Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) reaches out to a friend in need. Match day finally arrives, and the doctors are surprised when they find out who the new med resident is.

Earlier in the season, fans were introduced to Dr. Connor's new mentor: Dr. Isidore Latham (Ato Essandoh). The two characters got off on the wrong foot because Dr. Latham immediately revealed that Dr. Connor was not his first choice to be his trainee. Now that the two have worked out their differences, the show will soon introduce the doctor who was supposed to be Dr. Latham's protégé.

The season 2 finale airing next week will see Dr. Connor and his rival finally meet when the young woman heads to Gaffney as a second-year fellow. She comes all the way from South Africa and will be working at the hospital for quite a while. When the new female character arrives, fans can expect her to make Dr. Connor's job a bit more difficult.

"He's expecting them to work well together, because they're both such great young surgeons," executive producer Andrew Schneider told TV Guide. "[But] she will be a thorn in [Connor's] side."

The second season of "Chicago Med" airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
