Carrie Underwood news: Singer attempts to bounce back after getting up to 50 stitches on face

Carrie Underwood is back on the fitness track, weeks following her "freak" accident. However, the singer's fans speculated as to why the Nashville-based singer opted not to show her face in her recent Instagram post.

This follows an unfortunate accident last November which left the country singer with a broken wrist. She had to undergo surgery, which involved getting 40 to 50 stitches on her face. In a blog entry she posted on New Year's Day, the actress admitted that she fell down the steps inside her Nashville home. She also added that due to the surgery, she might not look exactly the same once she makes her return to the spotlight.

The singer posted a photo of her working out with her son Isaiah together with husband and National Hockey League (NHL) player Mike Fisher, with the caption, "My boys make work outs fun (and a bit less productive, but that's ok)! #StayThePath." Comments made by her followers on her Instagram post were quick to note that the singer seemed to have made it a point to turn her face away from the camera, with none of the scars from the surgery shown on the photo.

According to Dr. David B. Reath, facial surgery may take two weeks or more to heal. Moreover, much of the recovery time involves waiting for the swelling to subside.

Underwood also recently posted an X-ray of her broken wrist and shared this update to her fans as well: "Last check up on the old wrist this morning!! Thanks, Dr. Wurthand my PT angel, Renee, a.k.a. "Bulldog" for fixing me up!! I'm good to go."

When it comes to publicized sightings of Underwood post-operation, reality TV Star Adrienne Gang from "Below Deck" shared a photo of her together with the singer on her own Instagram account and told Us Weekly that apart from the wrist brace that the singer had on, she had no other inclination to believe that Underwood underwent an accident. Gang says that Underwood "looked great and seemed to be in great spirits."
