Stainless Games' derby-style video game "Carmageddon: Reincarnation" will not come out on time.

The game developer previously announced on its Steam Community blog post that the fourth installment of the "Carmageddon" series will come out on April 23. However, it made another announcment that the graphically brutal vehicular video game will be released on May 21 instead.

In the latest update posted on Steam, a representative from Stainless Games said that despite all their best efforts, they cannot release the title this month. The representative explained that the team managed to finish the game on time but they decided to push it by a few weeks in order to make sure that "Carmageddon: Reincarnation" comes out without any glitches.

"I know that many of you have expressed the opinion that you'd rather we brought you a better game than release too soon. And we agree!" the game developer stated. "Plus, I can confirm there will also be a further update to the Early Access build before 21st May, which will feature numerous improvements to the game."

While waiting for the full version, those who helped fund the game can play its beta version via Steam Early Access.

The first "Carmageddon" series initially came out in MS-DOS back in 1997, when Stainless Games created a banger racing sim called the 3D Destruction Derby. It was later on moved to the Windows and Macintosh platforms on the same year, then moved to the early generation of gaming consoles like the first PlayStation in 1999, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color in 2000.

"Carmageddon: Reincarnation" comes as the reboot version of the earlier series, and it was initially expected to be released in 2013. To be able to come up with the necessary funds to help develop the game, the developer launched a Kickstarter campaign that received a total of $600,000 in crowdsourced funds since 2012.
