As "Captain Marvel" gears up for its production next year, more and more details about the characters appearing in the movie have surfaced recently. The latest one suggests the film will introduce Rick Jones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Hashtag Show has come across a casting call sheet for an unknown supporting lead male who is described to be "intelligent, but can throw a punch," and "may be tied to a well-known character." There is not much to nail down a specific character, but the publication speculates it could be Jones who has a tremendous impact on Marvel's comic book universe.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, the character debuted in "The Incredible Hulk #1" as Bruce Banner's sidekick. He has accompanied Captain America in his adventures as well. However, what makes his "Captain Marvel" appearance possible is his deep connection not just to Mar-Vell, the first bearer of the title, but also to the story of the Kree-Skrull War, which is confirmed to be the backdrop of the film.

During the war, the Kree Supreme Intelligence triggered a latent energy within him called Destiny Force. This gave him powers almost similar to Captain Marvel, which enabled him to defeat the Skrulls. For a period of time, Jones also shared a telepathic link with Mar-Vell and was able to trade places with him when one is in the Negative Zone. He became close to Mar-Vell and was beside him when he died. This is purely speculation for now. However, if the character indeed ends up appearing in the film, The Hashtag Show predicts an aged Jones may help either Mar-Vell (Jude Law), Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), or both from escaping the Quantum Realm, which will reportedly happen in the movie. In related news, co-director Ryan Fleck has taken to Instagram to tease a potential filming location for "Captain Marvel." Fleck did not specify where exactly the place is, only writing "Scout Van" in the caption. It appears to be somewhere in New Mexico, though, according to Heroic Hollywood. Check out the photo below:
