'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3': New eSports features, beta details revealed at Gamescom 2015

 Treyarch

Game companies Treyarch and Activision unveiled brand new details about "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" at this year's Gamescom event, weeks before the beta begins.

Activision announced several added features that will cater to professional gamers who are interested in playing the upcoming first-person shooter title in eSports.

According to the game publisher, the Specialist Draft and the Ban and Protect systems will be added to the competitive multiplayer mode to enhance the game's ranked strategic gameplay. The Specialist Draft offers a pre-match selection procedure developed specifically for "Black Ops 3" Arenas and tournaments. The selected team will be allowed to have one of each Specialist weapon or ability that has been achieved over the progression of a match. This way, the team can have the opportunity to designate each player's role that could strategically help improve the game's mode.

The Bans and Protects system, on the other hand, comes up with a meta game that deals with content selection. This allows each player to get one or more votes that will come in handy if they would like to ban or protect a specific content from Create-a-Class, Scorestreaks or Specialists mode. This will bring a new level of tactic to the competition.

Treyarch studio director takes pride in the new eSports feature of the game, having been quoted as saying: "There's no doubt that this is the most significant change to how Call of Duty eSports will be played over the coming years."

The presentation also revealed that both the physical and digital editions of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" are already available for pre-order. Those who will pre-order the game will be given special access to the upcoming multiplayer beta which is slated to take place from Aug. 19 to 23 for the PS4 edition and from Aug. 26 to 30 for those who are using Xbox One and PC. Players who pre-order the game will also enjoy several in-game items that they can use for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," including the Advanced Supply Drops, custom reticles, a calling card, and an emblem.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is slated for release on Nov. 6.
