Gina Rodriguez is set to appear on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

The "Jane the Virgin" lead actress has officially joined the cop comedy for a guesting stint, according to reports. She is set to appear in one episode of the Fox comedy's fifth season. Although there is not much information on her character yet, many signs seem to point to her portraying the new girlfriend of Detective Rosa Diaz's (Stephanie Beatriz).

Earlier this season, the program finally revealed that Rosa is a bisexual. Executive producer Dan Goor caught up with Entertainment Weekly after that and confirmed that viewers can expect to meet Rosa's girlfriend in the near future. Beatriz then suggested some names who could be casted in the role, one of which was Rodriguez.

"Love Gina Rodriguez, and think she would be fantastic," Beatriz previously stated.

Rodriguez took to Twitter and said she was willing to play the part if given the chance. "Um...can I get an audition @Brooklyn99FOX ?!? *applies lip gloss and puckers lips* @iamstephbeatz you know I'm ready and on the sidelines like Go Rosa Go!" the brunette beauty posted in January.

The 33-year-old TV star is known for playing roles in "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Army Wives," "Deepwater Horizon" and "Filly Brown." She has also been branching out on her own series by marking her directorial debut earlier this year.

"I feel like I get to tell Jane's story so often and I love that — it's such an incredible feeling," she told Entertainment Tonight. "But [with directing], I get to be a storyteller for this little chapter, and there's something about stretching your wings like that that I haven't been able to do in the past three years."

Aside from Beatriz, Rodriguez joins the show's other series regulars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti and Joe Lo Truglio.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 5 airs every Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
