Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) and Jake (Andy Samberg) team up on a case linked to show business in the upcoming episode of FOX's cop comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

Titled "Serve and Protect," next week's episode will see the squad investigate on a crime that happened on the set of a TV series. According to the official synopsis, Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer) is replaced by Terry's (Terry Crews) ex (guest star Kimberly Hebert Gregory) in evaluating the precinct. However, Jake and Rosa are distracted by a burglary case that happened on the set of their favorite detective TV show.

While the other Nine-Nine officers focus on the audit and Terry's past relationship, Rosa and Jake meet up with the show's lead actor (guest star Nathan Fillion) and producer (guest star Greg Germann). The pair attempts to meddle in the case by charming Jake with the glitz and glamour of show business.

TV Line notes that episode 14 of season 4 will explore a crime that occurred on the set of a procedural similar to "Law & Order." "Castle" vet Fillion will once again assume the role of a TV detective named Mark Devereaux, who strongly believes that he is Rosa and Jake's equal.

"It should be pointed out that Jake and Rosa are huge fans of Mark Devereaux," co-creator Dan Goor told the publication with a laugh. "It is with a heavy heart that they realize that he's actually quite annoying."

In an interview with TV Insider recently, Samberg said that the next episode will be "super fun" because viewers will see Jake and Rosa get "pretty geeked out" when they see their favorite celebrity. He also shared how filming the episode made them a bit confused.

"Jake and Rosa are covering the case and they get to meet all of the actors on the show. It was very meta," the actor explained. "We had a lot of trouble discerning who was actually our crew and who were actors pretending to be our crew. It was very confusing. We kept going up to them and being like, 'Hey, can we get a light over here?' And they'll be like, 'Oh, I'm an actor.'"

The fourth season of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
