Boston Celtics is cooking up a major deal with some of NBA's biggest players, rumors claim.

According to reports, the Celtics are working to sign up Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook and Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin.

Howard Beck of Bleacher Report mentioned that Westbrook may opt not to agree to extend his contract with the Thunder, which is why the team may likely enter a trade deal with another one next season. If the speculations are correct, the most ideal destination for the 27-year-old point guard would be the Celtics.

Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett weighed in on the rumored acquisition of Westbrook from the Thunder. "Considering how strongly Ainge has praised Westbrook in the past, it is logical to conclude that he wouldn't mind having the Oklahoma City guard playing for his team. But there are several hurdles between here and that," the sports analyst said.

On the other hand, The Sporting News analyst Sean Deveney reported that Griffin and the Celtics are already finalizing a "major deal soon."

According to Deveney, "The Celtics would give up some number of their upcoming draft picks, but opposing front-office members say they don't want to give up either Brooklyn pick Boston can own in the next two years."

If the Celtics will manage to acquire Griffin next season, they can take advantage of the 27-year-old's scoring and rebounding skills with an average of 21.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game over his six-year career to add to the team's offense plans. Westbrook, on the other hand, could contribute his 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.4 assists to the team if the team could sort out the Celtics could sort out the deal with the Thunder.

Celtics' general manager and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has yet to make official announcements about the changes and additions in the team's roster in the coming days.
