The network revealed that the long-running crime procedural drama will immediately deal with the repercussions of the bomb explosion that happened in the lab during midseason finale, particularly in Hodgin's (T.J. Thyne) life.

By the end of the episode titled "The Doom in the Boom," Hodgins and Aubrey (John Boyd) were injured when a bomb was detonated inside the lab. While both of them survived the unfortunate incident that killed several police officers, Hodgins's spine was gravely damaged, which made him paralyzed from the waist down.

According to the synopsis of the midseason premiere episode titled "The Death in the Defense," viewers of the show will discover how Hodgins copes with his rehabilitation eight weeks after the fateful incident and struggle with his new life bound by a wheelchair. Will this bring problems to his job and his relationship with Angela (Michaela Conlin)?

In an interview with TVLine, Conlin revealed that both Hodgins and Angela are full of anger because of his new condition. According to the actress, Hodgins will be at a stage where he wants to give up, but Angela will fight for her husband. "She always sort of has one foot out the door. But now she's like, 'I'm all in with you, I want this to work,'" the actress said.

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode will also require Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) to look into a new case to find out the person responsible for the death of a female public defender. But this case will not be a walk in the park since there are a lot of defendants from the previous cases who have the motives to kill the victim.
