'Bomber Man R' gets new grand prix mode and new characters

"Bomber Man R" for the Nintendo Switch recently received a brand new update. Included in the latest updates are new game modes, a slew of colorful characters, and a grand prix mode.

Konami uploaded a trailer for the updates to their YouTube Channel on Nov. 14.

The update included the free grand prix mode where players would be divided into groups of three and made to race against each other. Aside from that grand prix mode also came with two other match modes called "Crystal Match" and "Basic Bomber." In the former, players would scramble around the map in a race to collect crystals. While in the latter, players would have to defeat opponents in order to earn points.

The trailer begins with an unseen narrator. "The Big Bang Grand Prix, the ultimate bomber tournament held once every 100 years to decide who is strongest in the universe. Competitors take part in groups of three, battling it out in a contest of skill and teamwork. This time the tournament is being held on planet Bomber, the home of white and the other seven bomber man brothers."

What follows the announcement is a glimpse of the some of the different maps players will be using in-game. The trailer also introduced the brand-new character line up. Revealing that the new additions to "Bomber Man R" would be iconic characters from other popular franchises.

The line-up included: Goemon, Dracula, Princess Tomato, Bubble Head, Option, Shiori Fujisaki, Jehuty, Anubis, Pyramid Head, Simon Belmont, and Reiko. The characters would reportedly come with their own unique skills, and their involvement would help spice up the game's combat.

Players will have to work together and combine the special abilities of their characters to make the most of each match and defeat the opposing team.

"Bomber Man R" was first released on March 2017, but continues to release updates.
